Information We Collect

WeedScout does not require you to create an account. The only data we collect is limited usage analytics that help improve performance and usability.

We collect limited analytics and identification-related data, which may include:

• App interactions such as feature usage and screen views
• Anonymous event data such as identifications performed or bookmarks created
• Device information such as app version and operating system version
• Identification photos and related information you choose to submit, including when you report that an identification resulted in no match, to help us improve our identification models
• An anonymised or de-identified record of identification events, including coarsified location information, to help us monitor performance and improve identification quality

This data is not linked to your identity and does not include names, email addresses, or precise location history. Where identification information is collected, it is anonymised or de-identified before use, and any location data is reduced in precision before being stored.

Data Stored on Your Device

Detailed user-generated content remains on your device, including:

• Saved weed identifications and their full details
• Bookmarked species
• Infestation records
• Photos
• Notes
• Treatment logs
• Reminders and follow-ups

This information stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up or export it. A limited, anonymised or de-identified record of identification events may also be sent to our systems as described above.

How We Use Analytics

Analytics events are used solely to:

• Understand which features are used
• Improve performance and stability
• Evaluate and improve identification accuracy
• Inform future feature development

Analytics data is aggregated, anonymised, and is never sold or shared for advertising purposes.

Data Sharing

WeedScout does not sell, rent, or trade your data.

We do not share user-generated content with third parties. Analytics gathered via Mixpanel is used only internally to improve the app.

Third Party Services

We rely on one third party service:

• Mixpanel for anonymous usage analytics

Mixpanel processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

Data Security

WeedScout is built with an offline-first design. Keeping sensitive data on your device reduces exposure and lowers risk.

Analytics events sent to Mixpanel contain no personal identifiers and are transmitted using secure channels.

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any updates will be posted here with an updated effective date.
